UFC question

I haven't been watching the Ultimate Fighter this season and haven't watched UFC for a bit, but I'm watching the Ultimate Fighter marathon right now and I see these commercials for UFC 79 where they said Matt Hughes is gonna fight GSP for the "interim welterweight title".

What's that all about? I thought Matt Serra and Matt Hughes was to go at it for the welterweight belt? Or did they fight already and Hughes beat Serra?

if he got injured that shouldn't make the Hughes vs GSP fight a title fight, regardless if it's just a temporary title belt or not. It must be a serious long term injury, otherwise I don't think he should lose his title just because of an injury. it If Serra quit UFC, then that's a different story. If anything Hughes vs GSP is just a number 1 contender fight then, IMO.

Yeah, Serra got injured. So now, the winner of the Hughes and GSP fight will get a chance to fight Serra later on....I think.

Ding! Ding! Ding!!! You are correct, sir!

I was trippin' when I heard that Hughes & GSP were gonna battle in a rubber match for the "interim" belt. I ended up checking the UFC website to find out what the hell was going on!

Serra suffers a herniated disc in his back.
GSP steps in to fight Hughes for interim belt.
Winner to fight Serra in the spring for the Undisputed title.
*I hope Hughes wins b/c I wanna see the TUF 6 coaches finally settle up.*

The TUF 6 Finale is on at 9 tonite on Spike! Gotta see Huerta & Guida duke it out!

might as well just make it a number 1 contender fight instead of an interim title fight. Guess Dana White just wants another headliner fight on the card for ufc79

I think he might have made it for an interim title because there's a chance Serra might not be able to defend the belt in the given time and he will loose it. You can't just hold the belt for ever and not fight, you have to defend at least every 8 months or some ****.

I would like to see Hughes/Serra fight, but no ****ing way I want to see GSP loose. So **** it, GSP all the way!

Tapout is a brand for people that are just jumping on the band wagon and refer to UFC as 'sick' and their favorite fighter is the "ice man". Lifted trucks, sunglasses and tatoo's I don't have a problem with.

can't believe Guida lost to Huerta last night. He had that thing won at least for the first 2 rounds.

Oh btw, Brock Lesnar is headlining UFC 81 lol
