UFC: Corey Hill's leg gets owned
Anybody watch the matchup Corey Hill vs Dale Hartt during UFC Fight Night? Corey throws a kick, it gets checked, and his leg literally breaks in half. The other guy doesn't even know what happened until the ref stopped the fight. Dale turns around all pissed off that the fight stopped until he looks at Corey's leg and goes

Duuuuuuuuuuuude! That was f'ing CRAZY! How can you be THAT skinny and fight in the UFC!? It looked like a daddy long legs fighting someone... Seriously, everything in that fight looked wrong to me, from his loooong limbs to his leg breaking... Ug... Its hard to watch the slow-mo replay, that was NASTY, and he tried to walk on it and realized that his leg was broken and fell and tumbled a bit ON the leg!
Maybe this will teach people to not go into a fight at 155lbs and 6'4!!
I'm 6'6 and I weight just short of 100lbs more then him!
He needs to start eating!!

It was a freak accident. Nothing more. As to Hill being skinny, there's an old saying in boxing: "height is king"
punching power doesn't depend on muscles and muscles are pretty much useless for fighters. Tommy Hearns - 6'1" 147lb boxer who was one of the hardest punchers in history. In any striking combat sport (muay thai, boxing) I'll take a super skinny tall guy over a normal sized guy any DAY OF THE WEEK
Check out Yoshiro Sato in K-1 MAX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap3qS6qSMl8 he's also ridiculously skinny/tall and knocks fools out. Height is king. Remember that.
Things of course are a bit different in MMA and muscular strength DOES matter in wrestling but even still, being short is a disadvantage (Sean sherk - too short for 170, Thiago Alves - too short for 185)
Fighters in general are skinny guys - they've only gotten buff in recent years because a lot of the guys who fight in UFC are wrestlers. It's always funny to think how in America we equate muscles = toughness.

Dude, I was in his shoes at one point... 6'6" and 165lbs... I worked out like crazy but never gained solid mass, that was during my younger years... Then I started eating 6-8 meals a day, lots of calories and lots of protein and lots of weights... I went from 165 to 235lbs in less then a year and I can tell you that overall I have MUCH more strength the I used to have... When I was 165 I was REALLY REALLY fast, but I had to depend on snapping my punches to make any real damage, otherwise my punches were far too light... When I finally got to 245ish, my punches were devastating compared to how they used to be... Trust me on this, I'd MUCH rather be the way I am now (well, like a year ago when I was in great shape) then to be like that guy which I used to be back in the day.
You guys are right about reach though, my limbs are RIDICULOUSLY long, my legs and my arms... It was def an advantage when I was sparring with my other kung fu friends (Wing Chun and Choy Lay Fut).
Like I said, it's cool to be really quick like he was, but when you are that thin you're not going to be as strong as the bigger guys so it would be pretty difficult to knock someone out with a single punch if you were him unless it was some super lucky shot... With weight comes momentum, and momentum + strength = Stopping power
Damn, I can't watch that video again... I keep showing people and have to look away because it freaks me out so badly... *shudder* I've broken a lot of bones and it brings back some nasty memories

Yeah typically fighters are lean/skinny because you want to be in your best shape. For Corey Hill, he either needs to get on a milk diet or some supplements. Looked like a freak accident that could probably happen to anyone.
I've seen Corey fight before and either he's still an amateur or his striking skills suck for somebody that's as tall as him. Just look at that video before the injury and u can see he doesn't really do any damage to the other guy in striking.

Dude, you can't say it any better. Also keep in mind people that Corey Hill is in the light weight division.

Also punching power is dependent on muscles as well. Why do you think boxers work out so heavily on upper body, esp. lats.
