While Randy controled the fight by leaning on Brandon, he did very little damage with his dirty boxing. The body kicks that Brandon landed hurt Randy... I liked that right off the jump in the first round, Brandon hit Randy with two good head shots.

haha word. Couture won 1st fersure but 2nd and 3rd was Brandons by at least a point in both.. Randy did put him against the fence and got ONE takedown. but Brandon defended every other takedown attempt and even reversed and put Randy against the fence too! not to mention those kicks in 2nd n 3rd..
there needs to be a rematch.
sometimes i think the judges are a bit bias towards the belt holder/ crowd favorite.

Vera didn't do enough to win. Sorry.
yeah I understand being upset because it was a boring fight but bottom line is... Vera allowed himself to be controlled by Randy the ENTIRE fight. While separated Vera obviously had the striking advantage but he only landed to good kicks and a hand full of other strikes. Other than that he did nothing.
Vera can be upset with NO ONE but HIMSELF. I don't think this had anything to do with poor judging and I've had my issues with the UFC judging... take for example Mike the counts win over hammel. Hammel won that fight but they were in the UK so judging leaned HEAVILY to the count.
Randy landed more strikes. More power strikes. More clutch strikes. More knees. They both had one take down. And Randy spent more time in dominate positions. He out pointed vera. It was a smart fight. Boring but smart. And I'm generally the first person to get upset about that. Take a look at my past ufc posts. It makes me mad.
But Vera had his chances and didn't do enough to win. If he would have gotten one more take down or a knock down then he probably would have won. He landed more kicks and was the only one to have a documented dominate position.
Just an example of another guy getting beat by the lean techniques of the natural. It was pretty much a mirror of his fight with Gonzaga except he beat the crap out of Gonzaga. Vera was clearly a better opponent.
I think in a rematch Randy would be in big trouble of getting hurt badly. Vera clearly found a spot for those kicks. If this was a 5 round fight I think Vera wins. Just took him too long to get going.

On a side note. I was super bummed about the Quick/Hardy fight. I like them both but obviously gotta support the SJ fighter.
Sad thing is... NEITHER of them is ready to fight GSP. Swick's speed and length as well as his tuffness would help him with GSP. Hardy's power means he could land a counter punch and win on a KO so it could be a good fight. But GSP is stronger than Hardy and I don't think he's used to that. Only guy he's fought that comes close to GSP is Davies and I think Davies should have won that decision.
I'm thinking the UFC is not overly stoked on the draw coming from either of those guys though. NOTHING compared to the Penn fights.
Glad Penn is back in 155 though. 170 is too heavy for him.
