I want to know what LAW they'd take my car away under...

Also, he can't pop my hood when i'm on my drive way!

I think Ruel is right. I think the fact that I didn't give a **** if they were there or not pissed him off the most.

My friend had to pop his hood on his driveway. Police got a call saying he was speeding around the neighborhood with his MR2. Obviously when they saw his Blitz Nur-Spec that didn't help his case at all.

better get used to it, you pay for their and their families benefits and their awesome retirement too. youll be paying mine to in a few years. 100k+ is unrealistic. but over 80k is not when they are first starting out.

Here's the payscale for UC 5-0:

http://www.ci.union-city.ca.us/admin/admin_pdfs/Salary%20Compensation%20Plan%20(FY%202005-2006).pdf

So base rookie pay is $65k for a typical 48 week. Let's say he picks up 1 extra shift every two weeks, which is pretty conservative figure for young gungho cops. That's an extra $24k at time and a half. Someone really hardcore about getting a lot of OT can make a lot more than $100k. It's the whole OT issue that keeps getting abused by most PDs. Granted, most of the older guys tend to rather spend times with their families and doing other stuff, but their base pay goes up.

Nah, policemen get shot at. You want to become a fireman for Orinda/Moraga. Starting pay is around $90k and you only fight 1.2 fires/year. My buddy say's he's basically a glorified taxi driver, taking old ladies with broken hips to the hospital about 8 times each day.

They can nail you with wreckless if he wanted to be a real ***. Its not "taking it away", but its towing it and impounding it

23103. (a) Any person who drives any vehicle upon a highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

(b) Any person who drives any vehicle in any offstreet parking facility, as defined in subdivision (c) of Section 12500, in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

cruising through a turn in complete control does not constitute willful or wanton disregard for safety or property, they might try it, but it shouldn't stand in court.

Beat me to it. One thing I have learned in this life is that cops will lie and get away with it in court almost any time they want.
