It all depends on what major you're applying under. I had a ~3.6 weighted GPA and a 1380 on my SAT's. SAT II scores matter a lot too... I had a 650, 700, and 750 on my 3 SAT II's. I got into UCD, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC... didn't get into UCLA or UCB. Applied under CSE for all of them.

Well when I graduated like 4 years ago I had ~3.3 GPA 1280 or some **** SAT and got in nowhere I applied. UCI, UCSB, UCD. Budget hasnt helped and they are letting in less Freshman this year than the previous year. Good Luck.

the newest freshies coming into davis are hardcore, seriously.
i guess there are lots of people applying to UC's, and not enough seats to fill them, ALONG with the fact that senior are taking their sweet old time in getting off their fatasses and actually graduating (insert slack)

that being said, i got 980something on my sats, but my gpa was like 3.78 out of highschool, and yes, the major you declare does have a huge bearing on if you get in or not.

<undeclared soc. sciences now turned hist. major.

Actually, I will only be a quarter behind "normal" when I graduate, so I don't think that's too bad. Was the JC thing that I took my sweet *** time in. But did work 32+ hrs a week so **** off.

Well my GPA was actually an estimate... I really don't remember what it was. Also, I think UC's don't really look at your freshman year grades in their calculation... not sure if its still that way. That made a huge difference for me as my grades sucked freshman year of highschool.

I think it took me 2 or 3 tries to get the 1380, and I only had one shot on the SAT II's... but I guess that worked out. The 750 was a complete shock to me, especially since it was in Grammer/Writing... even more crazy considering English is my second language. 700 was in Math and 650 was Bio, which I had taken sophomore year and reviewd a bit. Add a good personal statement, some decent AP scores, and a little bit of extra-carricular activity (pretty much the minimum), and Davis wasn't a problem.

The thing to remember is that UC's are getting harder to get into every year. UCD, especially, is moving up in the ranks. I predict it'll be very close to UCLA as far as admissions in the next 5-10 years.

Your GPA is decent, especially if you did well junior year. Get the SAT up a bit, and deffinately work on those SAT II's. I remember when I was applying to UC's, SAT II's were weighted almost twice as much as SAT I's by the UC admissions. Basically you're assigned a number based on your gpa/scores and at a certain point, they have to cut the list bellow a certain level. If you're bellow, you're not getting in no matter how great your personal statement is or how many activities you participated in... unless maybe you're a football star or something .

Anyway... I'm sure you've heard most of this a bunch before, but in case you hadn't there it is.
