Well, the ones that Bronco Winery pays off can't anyway...

Here's the deal. There was a huge glut of wine grapes on the market for the last couple years, which caused a big price shakeout in the wine industry.

Bronco, which is one of the largest producers in the state, used the "Charles Shaw" label to blow out a huge amount of back inventory at "just above cost" prices. They did this because they literaly had MILLIONS of gallons of wine sitting in tanks, that they needed to get rid of.

Now, the wines are okay. The Cab and Chardonnay are acceptable; nothing really good, but deffinately worth $1.99. (The Pinot, on the other hand, sucks grubby little gopher toes.)

The problem is that now the glut has passed... but the wine consuming public still thinks that it should cost $1.99 a bottle, even though anyone selling wine at that price is LOOSING money in a big way. (Hint; it costs about a buck just to buy an empty bottle, lable, foil and cork...not even any wine.)

...I must be bored too...

I'm a huge wine nut. I collect the stuff and drink ALOT of it. In my opinion Two Buck Chuck is very poor quality wine. I've had the white , the Cab and the Merlot. If memory serves me correctly i think the Merlot was the only desent one in the group. I would only ever use them to cook with.

Most of my wine drinking friends are of the same opinion. Go out and by something good. From wineries like:

1) Iron Horse
2) Hanna
3) Alaxander Valley Vinyards
4) David Bruce
5) Geyser Peak
6) Sabon Estate
7) Trentadue
8) Hess
9) Rutherford Hill
10) Jordan

just to name a few
