tv repair

Kind of a shot in the dark but my Hitachi projection tv crapped out on me and I was wondering if anyone had some insight. I can provide the model number but im at work. Anyway the tv does not power on when you push the power button. It sounds like it starts up and then shuts itself off. When i removed the panel on the back there is a red indicator light on. If i unplug and then plug the tv back in, the green indicators light up and then shut off and the red one starts.
Any ideas would help thanks!

i had something like that happen to my last tv. it was something small like 1-4 capacitors on the board that went bad and prevented it from actually firing up. you should be able to type in the model # and problems on google there should be some answers for you

prob blown fuse .. or you have blown a cap in the power module.
either way you need to get inside it. The older the projection tv the simpler it is to get in.

yes it was just a blown capacitor and i was able to find a couple threads online that showed a bunch of other people having the same problem and one guy who did a write up for my exact tv including what capacitors to replace and which ones to replace them with. i still ended up buying a new tv and using the one i fixed in my bedroom so its not used as much anymore but it has no problems
