TurboXS catted stealthback???

anyone running a turboXS catted stealthback on their 06+WRX or 04+STI??? Thinking of getting it to run stage 2 cobb just looking for a little info. If anyone in the San Jose area at all is running this setup with the factory axelback on either an STI or WRX I would love to take a ride in your car to hear what it sounds like. I am looking to stay very quiet. I would gladly meet anywhere, anytime convenient to take a quick ride and supply a few dollars for gas. Info is greatly appreciated, thanx...

if you'll make a trip up to the city (i'm rarely in the south bay) then i'd gladly give you a ride. TXS catted stealthback, prodrive cai, sti axleback.

it really is stealth. it's super quiet, even with the minor exhaust leak i have. if anything it's "too quiet" but i had a rs*r ex-mag on it before (quieter side for subie exhausts, but still has grunt), a 5-Zigen Fireball prior to that on a Civic, and a Blitz Nur Spec on the Civic as well which i got a ticket for twice in two days, a trip to the ref, and which xtremeyolks claims to have been able to hear backfiring from half a mile away. i have considered getting a prodrive axleback just so i can get the boxer rumble back, but at the same time i'm getting old. (not REALLY old, just act like an old geeser)

i got it used and the gasket that mounts up to the axleback has gone to crap, thus the exhaust leak. it still has the subaru glug glug and you can tell it's not stock when it spools for sure. it's very strange stepping on the gas and expecting to hear a roar as your thrown back in your seat but you get no sound to go with the rush. otherwise, i love the quiet. i hear my tires more than i do the car for the most part, but honestly i don't remember what the stock exhaust sounds like and nobody knows i have an "exhaust" on the car. if you have a wagon this is THE setup to have. my rs*r drone gave me headaches on longer trips.

come to the auto-x at oakland next weekend if you want to hear it from the outside. it is pretty much perfect to me when my mechanics take it around the block for shakedowns.

I used to run this setup for a while. But I parted it out and sold it. Currently running hks 3" dp, custom midpipe 3" taper to 2.5", and prodrive oval 2.5" axleback.
They are both stealth set ups but the txs one sounded pretty mean when you opened it up.

my brother has this setup on his 05 wagon and bolted to the stock axle back. the DP is wrapped and sealed. He's been thinking about a trade + cash.

I've got TurboXS Stealth back with CAT and Prodrive Axleback. I've NEVER been pulled over for noise. The one and only time I have been pulled over, he never even commented on the exhaust, just the speed.

Going down the highway, you hardly know it's there unless you put your foot in it.

Here's a video someone took at an autocross.

I'm the bugeye wagon at about 1:50, compare that to the STi running something loud. Even when I'm way closer to the camera you can hear the STi. The 04 wagon there is Matt's here... his is louder than mine, but also fairly stealthy. I think he was running a BOrla Hush or Stromung axle back.

I've ran this setup for about four years, from 2004-2007 on my old bugeye wagon and for the last year or so on my 2004 STi. Makes good power and sounds great. I ran it with the high flow cat and standard TurboXS muffler - at idle its pretty mellow and cruising it gives a good purrr. WOT is loud but not obnoxious. If you're looking to stay quiet, I would go with an STi axleback with the Stealthback. Prodrive would sound good too. I wouldnt use the stock axleback, the STi muffler will give you a better sound and more flow.

I would give you a ride but I recently swapped out the high flow cat for the TXS race pipe. This catless setup is noticeably louder, idle and cruise is not quiet and WOT is downright mean. I went catless because I wanted more power for my future retune on race gas - its louder than I had expected it to be but I like the loud angry boxer rumble!
