Unhappy Turbo Rebuild in Bay Area

Hello all, glad I found this forum! The turbocharger in my 05 WRX is dead, so I'm looking for a shop that rebuilds and installs turbos. I'm not familiar with turbos so I don't want to do it myself, plus the prices I've seen online for new ones seems a little out of my budget.

Any Bay Area locations appreciated, but especially any in the East Bay are preferred (I'm in CCC)

Not sure of places specifically for that around here, but you can ask all the standard shops. GST and/or RBMS in Hayward, Mann Eng. in Santa Clara, AHQ in Mountain View, Garage One in San Jose.

If you don't need it back up and running fast, rebuild is a good way to go. If you need it quick, replacement is probably best, but you need to get the motor checked, depending on how the turbo went. You might have gunk/shavings in the motor now.

I already found GST and Mann while researching, but thanks for referring me to the other locations as well!

But TBH after talking to a couple shops already, this project sounds too far over my head/budget. With that said, if anyone is interested in buying a project car let me know

Check with those shops. One of them may have a spare TD-04 laying around, but as mentioned, you'll have to have the motor inspected still.
