So I'm living over the hill in santa cruz(stupid hippies) and I have accepted the fact that there isn't a good shop over here for imports. Since I'm going to have to take my 04 sti over the hill for the tuning I can't handle in front of the house I was wondering what are the best places in san jose?

I was going to hop in here and mention Ed also. He came down to San Jose so we could hit up the Mustang Dyno at EIP, which worked out great. Ed's a very talented tuner! I greatly prefer road tuning to dyno tuning, but I guess Davis is definitely a bit of a trek for you coming from Santa Cruz...

shoot I can install parts for you if that's all you're looking for. I'm in San Jose. Uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, headers, bov, intercooler, brakes. Tranny or clutch, I need a lift....yea I can do most of the installs at home.

Oh **** I thought you meant a "tuner" to get your ECU tuned (as did everyone else). Have you called Santa Cruz Subaru? I know it's a dealership and all but they're usually pretty cool about that stuff... they do sell Cobb products, after all. I'm sure Bruce or whomever can give you a quote.
I bet you're fully capable of the uppipe and pulley on your own. They're not difficult, just "hard" in that it takes a lot of time and there are a lot of steps (uppipe mainly). But it's all just nuts and bolts....
...but if you're just looking for an install, I guess I'd recommend Gruppe-S also because I don't know of anyone closer to you that does Subaru-specific work like that...

Sorry i should have been more specific. I was hoping for a vishnu type (all inclusive) shop in the south bay but more labor than anything else. I tried subis sc and they can't do up-pipes because of state law.

yeah, they are a smog shop so can not put a catless pipe back in the car.
If you have tools it actually is not that hard to do an uppipe.
Is your profile correct though, thatyou have an 04 STi?
If so, you already do not have that first cat in the uppipe, just downpipe, and the last cat.
The pulley is probably cake to install as well, but you can get a gruppe-s pulley for $89 and have them install it.
