check out miata.net that is where I used to go when I had my miata. If you end up getting a 99+ I have a exhaust to sell. you can put in pretty much any roll bar that is 4 points or more. I put a Boss Frog roll bar in mine by myself and it was six points it is not that hard to install. they have a meet once a month at the in and out burger in Mnt. view when I still had my miata I think it was the last Thursday of the month but since it is winter i don't know if they have them any more. check out the bay area forum they will point you in the where you need to go.

just buy a car that is already a spec miata... one that has been used in spec events before... that way you wont have any problems with homologation and such...

^^^ Yup what he said, I am going to "Sears Point" Infineon on the Feb 3 thru the 5th. There will Spec Miata guys running too. Only costs $7 to get in the gate, not a far drive if you are in the Bay Area. The guy I crew for used to race Spec Miata. He might be able to help you out, later.

Spec Miata is great. Get started by joining/reading the forums at www.specmiata.com. I tracked my STi for a little over a year and then moved on to SM. Great class. Very different feel from a WRX.
Do you already have extensive track experience? If not, you might want to consider a slow buildup of a Miata street car or tracking your street car until you get a little more experience before you go directly into SM racing. There is fierce competition especially in the San Francisco Region of the SCCA, evinced by the videos at www.specmiatavideos.com.
I went ahead and bought an already-prepped SM with data, welded cage, etc. It ended up being cheaper than building it myself. There are several great cars for sale on the Spec Miata classifieds. If you have any questions, feel free to PM or AIM me.
