Tragic accident at Alpine Meadows
Maybe some of you have heard about this on the news, but on Sunday a 13 year old girl died from a ski accident at Alpine Meadows which occured on Friday, (the same day I went snowboading there). I even saw her go by on a sled laying down while a paramedic was giving her chest compressions, she was immidiatley air lifed out via helecopter, but sadlly she did not make it It's unforutunate something like this can happen when people just want to go have fun up in the snow. I hope everyone will be careful this season, I know I will.... you never know what can happen. My thoughts go out to her family, it must be a very hard time for them as of now.

yep i heard about that ealier. My families cabin is 5 minutes away from Alpine and i've skied there all my life. They started allowing snowboarders i think like 5 years ago.

thats truly unfortunate. i've snowboarded in the trees for my entire life, and its always sad to hear of someone being killed or injured doing so.
and yeah, Alpine has alloed snowboaders for years now. i was there in '99, and they'd been allowing boarders for a year or two at that point i think.

Dammit, that's sad. I used to get sad at things like this, but now that I have my own little girl, it makes it 100x worse. I want her to be a good snowboarder someday (if she likes it), but tragedies like this scare the heck out of me.
My prayers to her family.
