Cuz the engine is mounted like 8ft back from the front bumper. Kinda a frount mounted midengine thing.

Yeah, exactly. The MB 'crosshairs' emblem is actually the air intake. Keeping that in mind, look at how far it is from the intake (still a good 6" back fromt he actual nose of the car) to the engine itself. I love that motor. The part that most people think is the motor is actually just the air box/filter.
Look how far back that engine is! P.S. those things that you see to the left and right of the motor are the mufflers! The whole exjaust system only goes back as far as the rear of the motor.
