Toyo T1s vs BFGoodrich g-Force Sport: Help?

Here's the deal I have Toyo T1's 235/40/17 w/ about 65-75% tread. One of them got a nail to close to the edge, basically non-repairable. And these tires are just about discontinued, a few places have them lingering around

OK the Question:

Should I get two Toyo replacements for the front, since they will wear down quicker and eventually even out with the rears, or just get 4 brand new BFGoodrich g-Force Sports in a 245/40/17, and eventually try to get rid of the 3 good Toyo's on craigslist or something?

Mind you I'm on a super strict budget hence the "BFGoodrich g-Force Sport" they seem like the best bang for the buck for a 245 series with a performance yet high treadwear rating. I maybe track ONLY once a year.

I'm on 17x8 Rota Torques 48mm offset.

What do you think BAIC? Help. please?

where did u buy the tires from? if it was from ATC, they should prorate you for your old tires and credit the money towards a new set. honestly i wouldnt purchase 2 new tires and put em on the front. it is super bad for the diffs due to the difference in diameter from front to rear.

They only prorate if they have a mileage warranty or if you have certs. How much tread have you gone through with your current set? If they're not too bad, I'd recommend just buying one tire and shave it down to the size you need.

Though, according to Tirerack.com Gsports are $106 with a 340 treadwear rating (please realize, these ratings mean absolutely nothing). Vulcantire.com has a Pirelli PZero Nero M+S for $148 a tire with a 400 treadwear rating(you can pricematch at ATC.)

It's a bit more, but a lot of people would agree with me on these boards, that PZero Neros are incredible daily driving tires. I'm expecting to get ~30k out of my set of 225/50/16 and they grip great for all season tires.

bought wheels and tires from another i-club member. Sucks cause there seems to be so much tread left. Like I said, I may be able to recover some cash from if I sold the others on craigslist!

Not enough to warrant doing that! 65-75% I wouldn't consider that unless it was more like 85-90%

I may try and do the 245's, get the "meaty" look on the Rex! Should fit w/ no rubbin.

Yeah, I liked them too (T1s), but they are a little more expensive than I wanna spend!

Tire Rack Shaves.

I got a nail in one of my KD's and just measured the remaining 3 and avg. it out. Tire Rack shaved it down and off we went just like new. Check the web site for shaving. But I guess only thing would be that they don't have Toyo.

I think the tire shop at Sears Point also does shaving. You could bring a tire to them if they don't have the T1S. Can't remember the name of the shop...

Thanks Lowball,

That would have been cool if Tirerack had them, then things would have been easier. I see if I can find a place closer to have it shaved, if not then I'll go where I have to to do this.

AIM at Infineon sells Toyos - best prices around. And they will shave the tire to your specs. Talk to Ron.

I just replaced my worn T1S with the new T1R. Great tire and quieter than the T1S.

Happy Motoring

Rich,

I'm afraid that my Toyo T1s' are discontinued and are nearly impossible to find. I called tons of shops today, nobody had them. I still have like 70-75% left on 3 good tires. I want to keep them all the same brand and model. Looks like I may need to get 4 new tires, and really can't afford the PS2's or the Toyo's for that matter.

Thanks though!

i've set of BFG g-force sports 245/40/17. I believe they are pretty good for what I paid. Personally, I think these tires are quite loud compare to p-zero neo m+s. My friend's STi has those and I feel the ride is much quieter.
