Totally Random - Elise

Firstly the Elise is awesome...

Anyway, who makes it? I know its made by Lotus, but is Lotus owned by another company or are they independent? I thought I heard/read somewhere that GM owned Lotus, but I don't know.

Thanks

Lotus makes it, engine is sourced from a Toyota Celica 1.8 with some revised internals. Quite a nice car that one

I believe Lotus is owned by a Malaysian company that makes cars.

oh the elise.... my dreamgirl...

a few weeks ago when i was thinkiing of turning my STi into a full blown racecar, i was looking at the elise as a replacement. It is an amazing automobile and will probably end up owning one sometime in the future, but have other Subaru plans/ideas now instead , more to come in the next few months.... But I came across this beauty though, and it only helped further endear me to her:

..now if only they could make more of them, and go back to the B18C Spoon engine... that would be cool.

The bottom end is stock. The valve springs are beefed up a bit due to the higher red line/rev limit, but I believe all the horsepower gains were pulled from a mild port job to the head and some ECU tweaks.

That's the way I've read it anyway.

Oh yeah, and sometimes I wake up from dreams of driving one with a woody. TMI huh?
