I got my Camaro and WRX tinted at King Tint in San Bruno, and had a great experience both times. I also got my tail light overlays done there, and they're pretty kick ***.

I had a pretty bad experience with Best Image in San Mateo. I felt so strongly that I even wrote a Yelp review, which I don't do very often:

"I had a pretty crappy experience with these guys. I set up an appointment to get some vinyl taillight overlays put on my car for 10am and showed up a little early. I showed the guy the vinyls, and he said it would take about 3 hours to finish, so I found a coffee shop to do some reading. When I got back around 12:30, they hadn't done anything yet, and told me it'd be ready 30 minutes later. Not more than 10 minutes after they told me they didn't know how to work with the type of vinyl I brought in. What the hell were they doing for the 2.5 hours before I got back to the shop?

For reference, these were blue batmobile overlays, and if you google it, you'll see they're very popular with a lot of different car guys, all of whom were using them successfully (and some of them applied them without going to a shop). I actually did a better job of trying to put them on myself than they did, but it still sucked, which is why I bought a second set and took it to a shop.

They said they could try to work with it, but that it might not work, and I was ok with that. They spent no more than 10 minutes on it before giving up. They said they could order the film that they were used to using and call me to get it put on when it arrived a few days later. They never called me back (it's been 3 weeks), so I had to reorder the vinyls they destroyed (albeit with my blessing to try to put them on, but who would have imagined a tint shop couldn't put on overlays?) and go somewhere else to get it done.

I'm summary, they wasted 2.5 hours before telling me they couldn't put on my overlays, destroyed them when trying (with my blessing, so this part was equally my fault), and told me they'd order ones they know how to work with and call me to come in an get them installed and never did.

I ended up going somewhere else after the new set of vinyls came in, and was able to get it done in under 2 hours."

you should just post where your you live and/or where you work. that will make it easier to locate a good tinter near where you will be for easy convenience. there is usually one or two really good tinters in each city. i got mine done at rock mountain tint in livermore. i got 5% on the 3 rear windows and 45% on the driver/passenger windows. it cost $270 but the sweet part was my rear window has the dreaded "dot matrix". the guy actually took out the rear window put black vinyl over the dot matrix so it didnt show and then tinted it. other than the standard symmetrical awd missing i didnt notice what he did. i have since replaced the symmetrical awd with a omgawd sticker from grimmspeed. heres a pic to the the black vinyl he installed

I do agree with time at best image. Not the best but if you allot yourself time its worth the money you're saving.

I haven't got my WRX tinted yet. But I took my Mazda3 hatch, and my ex's Mazda3 sedan to Mr. Tint in San Jose. I paid $250 for a side job from the Mr. Tint dude on my car, and $375 on the ex's car. They have a lifetime warranty. And the tint looks good.

I actually had 40% on the front windows and 30% for the rest of the windows on my 3, and it was really nice. Never got pulled over for it in the 4+ years I had the car.

Here's a couple of quick pics I found. The angle looks different, but it's the same tint. Actually, same photoshoot.

I'm eventually going to get tint done but I personally wouldn't go darker than 30% where I live.

I've used this guy for all my cars for at least 7-8 years and he has always done excellent work.

Just took this. 50% fronts, 20% rears
