Any word from Vince on non-ceramic stuff that he has? (20%) I don't think he did the rest of my windows in ceramic. Matching windows is key.

Vince has both metallic (cheaper) and ceramic tint.

He uses the brand Lumar (sp?). It's just as good as 3M. I've never had a complaint about his tint or his process of tinting in over 10 years. Stays dark, no purple.

One time I had a spec of dust and complained (after the first 3 days of course). Dude ripped it off and replaced it, no questions asked. Basically another window of tint used.

Stands by his great service, sure he might take his time... but you get quality.

I certainly hope he has both. Considering that I have metallic tint that he did.

The quote Gleb got was for Ceramic. I wonder what the quote would be more metallic.

That's why I went to him in the first place. He did the tint on my car 4 years ago and it's been perfect. I had to get the front tint removed, I want it back.

FYI: I just asked for a general quote, but I think he quoted Ceramic because there are several people who specifically listed "high quality film" as a concern.

If you want to know what he would charge for a different tint type, you can call him up and ask him directly. I don't want to bug him with a million questions all day long for other people's cars, I don't feel qualified to represent each and every one of you.

I've heard from several installers that Llumar was inferior to 3M and from other installers that it is 3M which is inferior to Llumar. I think it really comes down to which particular model of tint film is being used, how it will be treated by the end user, and how well it is initially installed being the least important variable (assuming that all shops in question are competent).

At this point we probably have enough cars to do multiple group buys so that everyone can go to the shop they want to and get whichever film/deal they feel is best. I ask that everyone reserve their decisions until we have quotes from all of the shops that have been requested.

Honestly, all the folks with 08-13 imprezas would probably get the best deal if they went to the same shop and used similar tints. That is the downfall of this kind of group buy, it's tough to offer a deal when there is no benefit for the shop other than having more business - something many of these higher end tint shops are not particularly desperate for.

Ok. I wasn't sure how communication would be going. I didn't want to step on any toes by just calling on my own.

If I didn't already have metallic tint, I would go for the ceramic. If I didn't already have tint that was done by Vince, I would go for any shop. I'm mostly concerned with matching the new stuff with the old stuff. I'm very happy with the work that Vince did all those years ago.

I've been meaning to call Vince for some time now. I've been putting it off for a while, I can put it off for a bit longer, I'm in no rush. I'm just inquisitive.

The place doing the work is not decided yet, i'll shop around after I get an idea of how many cars are being done. If you have recommendations, post them up or PM me.

I'll update this post with a list of interested parties as people chime in, and once I have price details I'll put up the numbers. Like always, more people means more discount so get your friends and family in on it! This should be ready to go as soon as this weekend, maybe next (January 25th or February 1st). Got about 6 cars so far, and I expect at least 10 outside of iclub.

Get your ride nice and cool before the summer heat hits!
