Timing Quetions

i think my car jumped timing. in fact i am almost positive. i need info like where is tdc on the heads. it happened on the way home last night. my car started making a knocking sound. luckily i was about a mle away from home so i babied it home and when i pulled in the driveway it died. now none of the timing marks line up together and the car has weak compression. so i believe it is timing. can someone help me.

How are you lining up the timing marks? Do you have all the covers off? If so the timing marks should all face the indicators and the intake and exhaust marks (dual marks) should face each other on both sides.

Counter clockwise to get the crank pulley off.

Not sure to be honest, I have never seen a timing belt skip on a EJ20 other than when watching someone try and learn how to install a timing belt.

Anything in the oil?

Have you ran the car since to try and determine where the noise is coming from?

Your car is an '04 WRX, correct? It's still under warranty unless the car was modded or abused in such a way to cause a problem with the dealer fulfilling warranty repairs. I believe you can use your free Subaru flat bed towing to bring your car to the dealership so you won't have to worry about compounding any damage to the engine.
