Time,Speed,Distance Rallye 4/3/04

Porsche Club of America Rally in Vacaville. Flyer at WWW.therallyeclub.org . Look under calander. All cars are welcome. I went on this rally last year and it was a good one. If you have never been on one of these, try it. You will have a good time and you get to beat the Porsches. You will need a navigator.

Hi Pete. That's a tempting offer on the rally computer. I hope someone takes you up on it. I would do it myself but I have someone set to go with me. I have a board full of ancient old dash plaques I'll show you if you are interested.

Hey Pete,

If I can switch my photo shoot to the afternoon I'll navigate for you. Should be able to let you know in a couple of days, if that is okay?

YAY.....I'M GOING. I've never entered in a TSD before. I've done navigational rallys and poker runs...but yet to run in a TSD....my wife is going to co-pilot. How is it done?

The idea is to come closest to the true time that is a calculation based on the average speed and measured milage. The first leg is an odometer check so you can compare your odo to the rallymasters. His odo was used for the calculations. There are many ways to navigate ranging from special rally computers to a hand held device called a Curta to combinations of calculators, stop watches and odos that measure in hundredths of miles. The Rally Club website has tables you can download. Myself, I go what is called seat of the pants. I just use my speedometer and hope for the best. I recommend you do that on your first try. They have a first timer class. Good luck. See you there. By the way how do you quote someones reply?

You've done enough drives with TSD sections organized by Pete that you ought to KNOW the answer to that question
