I said every year. 15k makes sense. I found some people saying 7,500 which is just sounds absurd to me.
Thank's for the tip. I'm gunna have to check that out. I found a filter on amazon for $18 which isn't bad considering the dealership sells them for $33.
Alright! I like this information. I shall be replacing the filter sooner rather than later (never).
That's pretty much what I did for now.
Replace it and check it often. Problem is the filter jams up with junk and the temp resistor chipset isn't cooled off effectively (good air flow), the chip will burn out! $150 for a 05-07 model and $60 for the 02-04 model. Filters are optional piece that can be inserted into any 02-07 blower box system. Just a rectangular cover that clicks and locks it into place.
That's pretty much what I did for now.

Legacy doesn't seem too bad.
Changing Cabin Air Filter - YouTube
Granted there's a lot of pieces but the guy in the video does the whole thing in about 5 minutes.

Keep in mind with air filters. As they clog up the filtration stays the same, but airflow decreases.
If you are wondering why your heater or AC aren't working do good, take a look at the cabin filter.
Here's the guy I got mine from
AIR CABIN FILTER pollen heater ac, WIPER BLADES wipers blade items in AirCabinMan filters store on eBay!

Found this one on Amazon for my '04 - they didn't have this one @ Walmart for some reason. Half the price of an OEM replacement. If you figure out which FRAM model works in yours, the one I linked to has charcoal in it to filter out odor, as well as all that carp you had in yours.
Here was mine when I replaced it after maybe 2 years:
