Ticket for stock intercooler
I just got pulled over on 101 near Morgan Hill, and some smart *** cop told me to pop the hood, and he said I am giving u a ticket for intake, and that thing between the engine and the firewall (stock intercooler), car to low, and exhaust, and send you to state ref, I was like I am F*#ked cause I have a 02 2.5RS with turbo, and then he was saying that my car would produce more smog then 100 stock cars together, also he made me jack up my car so he can see if I had a catalitic converter which can be seen by looking under the car easily, my blitz sideskirts dont hang down that low, after all that he let me go with a warning, I got hell of lucky. It was also messed up when he didnt believe me about a wrx stock intercooler was legal, I was like all turbo subaru cars have one of these, then he said not the ones that are stock.

No offence, but why did you pop the hood? If you know that you have something "not quite legal" under the hood, you do not have to open the hood. You notice that the officer ask for you to open the hood? That is because he does not have the right to do so himself.
I have had one friend to said no to a Fremont cop. They took her out of her Civic, and handcuffed her. The officer then called for back up. After the second black and white showed up, both officers hounded her to pop the hood. She kept saying "why don't you do it yourself?" After 45 minutes of this they uncuffed her and she showed them her badge. They were pissed that she did not idenify herself as a cop right away. Then again, she has way more ***** than I do.

Anyhow, this is what I did when I was sent to the CA REF. I waited for the ticket to come in the mail. I saw that I had 2 choices....
1. Waste all my time to put it back to stock, pay like $160 fine, plus REF fees....or
2. Not fix it and Pay $265. fine and be done with it!!!!
I chose #2 and was still able to register my car this year. All the State/City wants is your $$$$$$$. They really dont care about smog like the pretent to do. Thats why, if you are pre 67 (?) you can have whatever you want on your car....those are the ones that pollute more than 100 "stock" cars.
If you can afford it, just pay the fine...if it happens
