Ticket for stock intercooler

I just got pulled over on 101 near Morgan Hill, and some smart *** cop told me to pop the hood, and he said I am giving u a ticket for intake, and that thing between the engine and the firewall (stock intercooler), car to low, and exhaust, and send you to state ref, I was like I am F*#ked cause I have a 02 2.5RS with turbo, and then he was saying that my car would produce more smog then 100 stock cars together, also he made me jack up my car so he can see if I had a catalitic converter which can be seen by looking under the car easily, my blitz sideskirts dont hang down that low, after all that he let me go with a warning, I got hell of lucky. It was also messed up when he didnt believe me about a wrx stock intercooler was legal, I was like all turbo subaru cars have one of these, then he said not the ones that are stock.

So you've got an illegal turbo kit on an RS, and you're *mad* that you only got a warning?
You should be thanking the gods of modifying right now........

I think he was more upset at this, than the fact that he got pulled over....I know I would be pissed if a cop A: Tried to tell me that my car would make more smog than 100 "stock" cars......uhhh, I call a big phat BS on that one...you would have to be spewing black smoke out the tailpipe, like this hoopty I was behind on the freeway today to make THAT much smog...... and...... B:made me jack up my car so he could see the Cat, esp. when it can be seen if you just look under the car. and C: intercoolers are not a stock part on a WRX (I am sure xleratedwrx knows his IC on his RS is not "stock" for his car, and got lucky in that sense.) This po po obviously was a n00b when he tried to say that NOT all turbo subys have ICs.

my .02¢

well my car having a turbo kit hella peeps take it for a wrx because the engine looks very similiar, plus with a stock intercooler in it, the only thing that you can see is a upgrade is the injen intake, everything else is black to through peeps off, if you would like I can post a pic of my engine bay so you guys can take a look and see for yourselfs.I have heard stories about not poping the hood just makes things worse thats why I did it

Are you the guy with the yellow RS, that I talk to today??

Anyhow, this is what I did when I was sent to the CA REF. I waited for the ticket to come in the mail. I saw that I had 2 choices....

1. Waste all my time to put it back to stock, pay like $160 fine, plus REF fees....or

2. Not fix it and Pay $265. fine and be done with it!!!!

I chose #2 and was still able to register my car this year. All the State/City wants is your $$$$$$$. They really dont care about smog like the pretent to do. Thats why, if you are pre 67 (?) you can have whatever you want on your car....those are the ones that pollute more than 100 "stock" cars.

If you can afford it, just pay the fine...if it happens
