Thunderhill this Friday Dec. 11

Hey Guys and Gals. Who's in for this Friday's TEAM event at Thunderhill. I'll be there once again with my 05 WRX wagon (WRB).

Forecast may call for rain. Any rain advice/suggestions?

Keep the a/s tires on and have fun with the AWD (don't let off the gas)!

I'll be attending the TEAM track event this Friday. I have driven once in the rain at Thunderhill and it was an interesting experience. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Maybe it was the AWD drivetrain and tires that gave me a lot of confident on the rainy track. The tires I was using were the Bridgestone RE01R which worked very well in the rain. My advice for for driving on a wet track is the obvious, be cautious. Also, do not go onto the berms. When the berms are wet, they become slippery like slick butter.

Rain is awesome and will teach you loads. I can't wait to get back on a track again.

hey Giibo, I'll be there in my OBP bugeye wagon and bringing two friends - white E36 M3 and a G35 sedan.

Haven't done a trackday in a car in the rain but I've done one on a motorcycle....I'm sure it'll be a lot more comfortable in a car tho. And like Int'l B said, have a blast - enjoy your time out there and really get to know your car, how it handles and feel the track.

Now would be a good time to replace your wiper blades

I'll be there; I'm watching the forecast for this Friday carefully.. Last week they reported that this entire week, Monday through Friday would be raining.. now it's slowly been pushed back to Friday being the only day that's raining. Here's to hoping they change the forecast one more time..

I'll be there, and the forecast looks great! Driving on the track in the rain is a blast and as others have said, teaches you loads. It rewards smoothness and gives immediate feedback on mistakes. Much safer than learning wet weather skills on the street. It also has a much greater bang for the buck factor for your tires.

Here's 3 fun laps I videoed at Reno-Fernley:

Look for me in my Bumblebee! (instructor/group A)

Cheers, Bill

Get a whole bottle of Rain-X and Rain-X the heck out of your windshield every time you stop for fuel on the way up (do it at petrol stations under cover, can't do it too well when the windshield is wet). Rain-X is neat stuff.

Dayum, this is what I forgot last night....and I'm the one who mentioned it. I might be running with only one wiper if I can't get out to a parts store....

+1!! It still amazes me what a difference Rain-X makes, especially in dealing with fine road spray. This is apparent when passing a semi and their tires are throwing up a fine mist monsoon and you can see fine but other drivers are blind (and stupidly usually pass the semi at +1 mph prolonging their predicament!). The same is true with road spray on the track.

I've done the application under a gas station cover in the rain, and it works OK in a pinch. But, to really succeed with this product, you should apply when the windshield is *really* dry as the Rain-X should go into the surface pores of the glass and if the water is there it's not as effective. Use windex or similar to clean the glass really well first then apply per the directions.

I've got it in my track kit and can share if you don't find it, but applying it Friday morning will be tough (wet/cold).

Thanks Bumblebee. I'll be in the black 02 wagon. I'm going to the store a little later and get some Rain-X....but I'll need to find the passenger side wiper arm and get a new blade too.

Cool vid, See u tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about this wiper arm. The wipers aren't as effective at speed as the Rain-X is, and who care's about your passenger?

See you tomorrow.
