And it is also not a “perfect” lab. You can see that at the later part of the lab, the player drives a bit more conservative than he does at the earlier part. You have to remember that if you drive out of the pavement, hit the wall or a cone; you have to start all over again…
Now, for those of you still don't think that a person is capable of doing nurburgring in that amout of time:
From what I’ve heard on GT4 forums, this mission below is even hard than getting gold in the license test. Enjoy!! (Note: You can only view it. Not “downloadable”)

That three monitor set up is bawllz deep man. The question is... how does it work? I can't imagine the developers spending time on a system that will render the left and right peripheral views and then not even making a big deal out of it.
Plus, who the hell has three monitors right now? I keep waiting for something like this to become feasible. I think it would increase the sensation of speed by a lot, especially if the only thing you could see from the corner of your eyes was the monitors.
Shweeeeet.

But yeah, that's a real person.
First of all in GT, all the gold times are derived from a very good player driving and some buffer is added so there's always some way for gold even if you mess up on a corner. Go back and watch GT3 license demos, they all beat the gold time and a real person is behind it.
Secondly, the AI in GT4 is so stupid, there's no way it can drive like that. Anyone who's played GT4 can tell you that much

When you press those buttons, the screen will turn (yeah, the screen actually turns...) and show you what’s going on in that direction. (Exactly like turning your head to check traffic)
I think for the 3 screen thing to work, you just need another two ps2 setups. Let one constantly looking to the left and the other to the right. (I think you can even put one more setup behind you to make 4 screens….)
