Thinking of a Gaydar Detector

JK, Radar Detector yes
After driving home with Zoeb from JGTC (which was a blast And NO, D1 was not as bad as Edgar says it was) I got to see the workings of a Cobra Radar Laser Detector.....
I really want to have one now, but I don't want to spend 200+ on a valentine 1 or Escort. Does anyone think the Sub $100 Cobra or Whistler Radar Detectors are worth it?

I've owned the sub 100 and the like. They become more of an annoyance, and open for interpretation, I.E. lots of false alarms. My ESCORT 8500 is the chit. I love this thing. Once you get the hang of the detector it is the most reliable thing around, and it has a range unlike any other. You can count on this detector. The Unidens, and Cobras I haven't had as much luck. Some of the Bells particularly higher end units are designed very well. As with any thing you get what you pay for and radar detectors are no exception.

I just slow down when I smell bacon.

Only one speeding ticket in 17 years of driving and they got me from the air, radar wouldn't have helped me there. But I didn't smell bacon either...

Which k40? They make detectors as well as diffusers. K40 technology is a bit behind right now. I had a K40 undectable with all option in one of my other cars, not really worth the $2500 price tag.

Passport 8500 or V1 depending on how much you want to spend, otherwise it's a tossup of how worthless it is, how often it falses, and how much getting a ticket is really worth to you.

I drive fast and look for cops, never been pulled over. If I got one I'd get a V1 though, no point in getting anything less Brian!
