Paul, that's an incredibly powerful picture.
I cannot imagine what it must have been like stepping off one of those boats...

 

I met a D-day vet...he wouldn't talk about it. I also use to hang out with a radioman from a TBD that was at Midway, he remembered their torpedo run on yamaoto's flagship, even talked about being out of ammo and using his service revolver to shoot at the ship as they went over the top.

powerful stuff, I try to sit and talk with any vet I can. One learns from the people who were there better than any history book.
