Tein Mono Sport?

Hey y'all

Should I buy the Tein Mono Sport coilovers for my 2011 STI sedan?

I can't find any reviews on here or anyone else that has used them... I autocross monthly and also do trackdays. Would appreciate any insight into the product

My other car is a '16 Shelby GT350 and am spoiled by the suspension now. The stock STI suspension just isn't cutting it

Thanks!

AST 4100s or 5100s. I have 4100s on my '11 STI sedan and they feel great. Mann Engineering in Santa Clara offers them setup specifically for this car and can custom valve them if you need. I'd do sways too.

Ah so AST is a brand. Thanks

I've never heard of it, but after some quick Googling it's $2k-$3k?! There's no way the Mono Sports are that bad, really? Why are they ****? I haven't read any bad experiences. If you got some links I'd be willing to check them out.

I just want to emphasise I'm actually tracking the car, so I don't really care for on street characteristics. I prefer stiff, but have my wife's regular impreza to just do errands and regular boring driving with.

At that price though, plus an extra $1k for sway bars and end links lol, that's money I could easily use elsewhere. That's a downpayment on a BRZ lol, and just buy that for autocross.

Tein is low end crap, packaged for the "cool/stance" crowd.

Go with the AST, or better yet call up Feel and have them build you a custom set to match what you want to do.

Depends on how serious you are Auto-x'ing. If you intend to be competitive, you already know it isn't going to be cheap. If you aren't trying to be a contender, then I'd just do springs & shocks, sways & endlinks rather than coils. Good coils aren't going to be cheap and there's a reason why Tein's are.

Cool thanks y'all

So TEIN sucks? Interesting

Nah not trying to be uber competitive, I just think the stock STi suspension on a 2011 just isn't fun anymore. So when I do take it to an autocross it just feels "sloshy". Maybe I'll just do sway bars and call it a day.

I shall continue research, but maybe it's time to just start saving up for that GTR and sell the STi.

If you do swaybars, only do the front.
Doing the rear bar will just make you pickup the inside rear wheel, which is a sure way to blow out your diff
