i got 5 bucks for every A i earned. So a 4.0 = $30~$35...

whats the difference if parents buy a kid a sti or a beater. regardless, its still a 2000+ pound piece of metal that can kill anyone in its path. its the person behind the wheel! (okay okay, of course a person would be more inclined to drive fast in a sti)

actually, i cant talk. im 16 and im still learning how to drive. lol. He gave me his 94 lincoln mach 8.. i think its 94.. but the story is, I went to go work out during the floods and storms. In the parking lot, alot of lights are out while im parking. It was raining hard and i could only see infront of me. Im turning into a space and feel something stop me, so i look around. I see nothing, and think im just ontop of a curb, so i gas out and heard a scrape. I thought it was my wheels. Then i get out and look at the car, the front wasnt hit. But i get to the side and there was a bigass dent and scratch, and then another bigass dent. Apparently i hit a light pole hahaha.

toolong:didnt read, I am 16 and hit a lightpole... Beaters as learning cars FTW

I'm 17 and definately am against any racing or anything like that. I've seen too many crashes already which is why my friend with an STi and my motto is "keep it at the track."
My first car was a 1988 cadillac fleekwood which was the ultimate of beaters. The gas got stuck on a regular basis, it made for quite a scary ride =P
Then I got a mazda protege5, started modding the susp. on that then later on finally got a WRX!

It's not a good idea to get ANY 16 year old a car. They are not mature enough, they like to show off and be cool and always have something to prove. My classmate's sister, who was 16, died last friday because her bf was driving recklessly. My friend's good friend died in a car accident few months back. We can't blame the parents, it's the kid's fault. Everyone take responsibility for their own actions. Buying the kid the car does not directly lead to him killing himself, it's the kid's fault. Just be safe out there, wear your seatbelts, slow down. Even some of our board members admit driving recklessly, and they aren't 16 anymore.

I gotta say, if I had gotten my STi a few years ago, I might not still be alive. I by no means was a bad driver, and I probably had a lot more skill than most people my age (I've been driving on various property of my family since i was 11 or 12), but I was still young and crazy. I had a ghetto ford explorer which I drove like I stole it. On occasions if I was lucky I'd borrow my dads 72 camaro SS, and I nearly killed myself in that too many times to count. If I had an STi when I was 17 I really don't see anything good coming of that. All this having been said, my 17year old self would kick my 21year old selfs *** for having came to this conclusion. Ohh to be young again.
