Haha, I remember a MacGyver episode where he did that. Of course the car was already going like 90 down a hill and he had no way to stop.

This isn't directly related, but kind of is because its was recommended for the engine.
One of the salesmen at Cypress Coast Subaru told me that you can clean the carbon deposits off your engine by running it to redline. He said it was ok because if it was bad for the engine they'd have something to keep you from going that high in the rpm's (something like......a rev limiter???)
