After seeing the GM fiasco, they are just covering their butts to make sure they don't end up getting investigated.

Takata Japan no longer makes the race harnesses etc. that we associate with Takata in Japan. They are all made in Germany now.

Pretty sure their OEM business and their Race business are two separate entities.

Schroth makes them for Takata now. Cobra, Schroth, Takata, all come out of the same factory/company now.

All made in Germany.

Digging this up from the dead ...

I searched a couple terms and this was the only thread I could find on the Takata recall. Someone posted about this on the Saab92x forum today and that was the first I had heard about this. Should we be worried/be proactive to replace the airbags? The Saabaru falls into the recall list but it's geographically limited to the most humid areas of the U.S.

Regarding the recall for impacted Subies:
"Despite the nearly 12 million vehicles recalled among other automakers and two deaths associated with the Takata airbags rupturing in Honda vehicles, Subaru claims there is not a safety risk associated with their vehicles, but is recalling certain regional vehicles out of an abundance of caution.

The vehicles impacted by the Subaru air bag recall are the 2005 SAAB 9-2X, 2003 through 2005 Subaru Baja, 2004 through 2005 Subaru Impreza, 2003 through 2005 Subaru Legacy, and 2003 through 2005 Subaru Outback, 2004 through 2005 Subaru WRX, and 2004 through 2005 Subaru STI models sold or registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

All other vehicles outside of those regions are not being recalled or inspected at this time until the NHTSA and Subaru investigate the potential air bag failure risks further."

Anyone hear anything more about this? Most of the news on the Takata recall seems to be from early August.

I work in Parts at BMW. We've been doing this recall since 04'ish, it died out because it was only for certain manufacture dates for the E46 body. Now its back, seems like they are covering their *** and just doing all of them. We've done about 120ish within the past 2 months and still have more on the way. Sucky part is that this airbag is on backorder for us now.

I work at Honda too and been doing these recalls about 3 weeks ago before the news announcement. Right when they announced it on the news last night...there were at least 30 calls in about 15 mins asking "Is my car affected??!?!"

Lols, they listed my car, appropriately, under General Motors. Pretty sure I'll be SOL trying to find a GM dealer who will give a **** about their red-headed-stepchild. Fun fun! ha.
