man, get att gsm only if you have an urge to smash your cell phone...I was close--very close to doing so several times. I live in SF and the reception is horrendous. Called ATT and they said very politely "Rest assured our gsm system will be state of the art in a few years" FEW YEARS!? Eat my A$$. you'll save lots of time, $ and frustration by pulling up to a payphone, or telegrams, morse code is a better choice than gsm/
On the other hand all my verizon buddies can get service locked in a steel cage with 4 inch walls in an underground parking lot in timbuktu. Its just not fair.

word to the wise for those who have cell contracts coming up. on nov. 24 you will be able to keep your number while switching your provider. before that date companies will offer sweet deals to lock you in. after that date companies will probably offer even sweeter deals to get you to switch. i cannot wait because i will be telling at&t
