My favourite F1 noise was right after turbos were banned. Ferrari were running a V12 up to 22,000 rpm in qualifying. I was at Silverstone that year for qualifying and race day. The engine sounded like it was ripping the air apart for its own enjoyment - kinda high pitched ripping scream.

So... I looked up more info on the F1x2 cars. I saw them taking people around for joy rides on Saturday, but obviously running an F1 isn't cheap. Apparently, they are usually booked for corporate joyrides to cover the expense. Get this: 250 ukp ($500) per 1000 meters! So a typical ride around Silverstone (out lap, flying lap, in lap) runs around $6000.

I wonder if that extra length added for the passenger makes them feel like they are driving a boat in comparison to what they would normally race o_O
