Sunnyvale PD?

Family just moved to the area, anything I should know about the Sunnyvale PD for when I visit? It's not like I speed or anything, but are they uber **** about mods? Any places they tend to hide and wait?

Lawl. Sunnyvale is just about the quietest town in the Bay.

But, in turn, you get a lot of cops with downtime enough to spot and ticket you for modifications to your vehicle.

As far as hiding goes - they frequent the schools in the area and love to patrol suburban neighborhoods and wait for unsuspecting motorists to barrel out.

Yeah, I've heard they get pretty bored

I really don't speed, so its not like they are going to catch me going 50 through the neighborhood! I was just wondering about analness in regards to exhaust (I have a Cobb CBE and crucial DP)

They will literally get a dB meter and measuring tape and test to see if you car is audible from 50ft away.

I've seen it done, and they LOVE to do it.

Hahaha, nice! Hopefully I never run into that! It's cool to know that they actually go though the formalities rather than the officer's opinion.

You won't be saying its 'nice' when it takes them almost an hour to pull you over and either write a ticket or let you go.

Especially if you have to take a ****.

No, I'm sure I wouldn't like it when it happened, but for them to go through that much effort would be funny after the fact. A buddy of mine was stopped for 45 minutes with the CHP officers because the first two didn't know what the adjustable aftermarket BPV was. Well, they "knew" but wanted to "confirm" it with another officer (who we gather had an SRT-4).

From what i seen they are just bored most of the time and like to follow subies and like r-dub said they do follow you for exhaust. Seeing as you drive a mini you should be ok and will blend in probably with all the other mini's hehe.

Hmm.. Why not, as you so often suggest, simply don't break the law?

That being said, I lived in Sunnyvale for about 6 years and got a few tickets, but they were all for things I was doing wrong at the time. I found the police to be more than fair, and I have always had modded/loud/non compliant though clearly not dangerous cars.

haha, I don't say don't break the law. I say if you dont want to get in trouble/are going to complain about getting in trouble for breaking the law, then don't break it. If I get a ticket, I get a ticket, oh well.

I have been in PA for about 4 years and i have to say in the last year they have gotten more strict than they were the 3 years previous. Oh and do you have front plate on your car? That seems to be another issue they use out here to pull you over to begin with.
