Hey guys i recently blew out my short block, for my01 2.5 now..i have a few options:
1.get the car back to its original state which is around 3000-4000
2.swap it out to sti block and all that but i have no idea how much its going to cost me
3.fix it back to its original state and then sell it which will be worth...i dont even know how much money ill be losing, but if i do consider selling it it would mean i would be giving up all my mods for free with the car; megan coils; legacy front rotors/calipers, legacy rear rotors, SS lines, cusco sway, endlinks, rims. and all that
i am desperate for suggestions keep in mind i am not that financially stable right now thanks!

Ooooo. I like these threads.
1. That sucks!!
2. Very expensive. Not worth it. Conversion is super expensive. Also ask yourself the question, who is going to do it?
3. Life sucks doesn't it. HOWEVER, you might be able to find someone that can sell you a 2.5RS block. If I remember correctly, salvator_rizzo is almost done swapping his car. Buy his block off of him or something.

If you're in a tough spot financially speaking, contact a few local vendors for repair estimates and just get it running again....putting in an STi block/turbo would be very expensive.
Good luck.

It isn't like you can just drop and STi block/turbo in. You would have to do a conversion. You'll need a bunch of parts and you'll have to do some major wiring. Are there ways around this, yes... but still money. Your best bet is to call someone and have your block replaced.

Definitely try to find a block. I literally just went through the same situation with my wife's '00 RS, but it was completely taken care of by LIC. I know exactly how you're feeling though. Way too complicated, time consuming and expensive to do a swap IMHO.

call LIC and get a block, its going to be about $8g's to swap it.. so just put it back to stock. then drive it or sell it... but atleast part it out if you sell it so you dont loose ALL of your money..
how did you blow your engine?
i read on another thread that noone is doing swaps around here anymore (might not be true), so i think your only choice is to get a block.

Just get a new short block from subaru, it comes complete, ready to mounts the heads on.
Call Greg at Marin Subaru (Parts Dept) and tell him you are on I-club and your situation, I'm sure he can get you a short block for less than $4000, cause I think the list price is like $2500 or somewhere around there.

given your financial situation I'd say you have 2 options...
1. Get a shortblock and fix it that way. Get it back on the road.
2. Find yourself a totalled wrx and buy it. I've seen them COMPLETE for under $8000. Get yourself a loan for the car plus some. Take what you need. Sell the rest and sell what you don't need off your car. Make maybe half your money back. You'd be out about $5000 and have a wrx swapped RS. But that means you're now indebt.
