Suggestions for the Philippines?

My wife and I are leaving in a little less than a week and a half to the Philippines for 2 weeks. We'll be staying with my "tita" in metro Manila. Anyways, any of you have any suggestions of things to do, places, (incl. touristy stuff) to go to and see in the PI? This will be my 1st time (I know, I suck)!

We will checking out the Palawan Islands for 3-4 days while there for some R&R.

salamat

~gus

Baguio, Cebu, Boracay, Bohol

I was born in Bohol so when ever we go to the PI i got there and also to Cebu. Very beautiful places.

When you are in manila make sure you visit Baclaran. This is a huge shopping area were you can pretty much anything you are looking for. Last time i visited this is where i went to buy bootleg dvd and playstation games.

You can visit SM mall of Asia. It is the 7th largest mall in the world. It is located in Pasay City.

One advice that i would have for you is to not wear anything name brand that you wouldnt mind getting stolen. My cousin had his baseball hat ripped off of him when we where in the Jeepney. And he had his watch stolen when we were on the LRT, IT gets kind crowed in there. Also make sure you look out for pick pockets. there are a lot of them. Other then that have fun and take a lot of pictures and share it with us.

Be careful man, Abu Sayyaf (Muslim Fundamentalist affiliated with al Qaeda) have a pretty powerful presence in the Phillipines. I personally won't go without protection but that's your call. Don't take the ferries.

Last time my dad went down there my aunt sent one of their armed (m16) guards to go with him, and he just went to the mall. I think my family there are like the Filipino Mafia or somethin . . . ha! One of my uncles owns a horse race track, several businesses etc. My uncle that I'm stayin with was in the government, but never talked about what exactly his job was. hmmm?

No these guys are really secluded and total militants, you'd know if he were one. Seriously though, Sayyaf is about as bad as extremism gets. You get caught and you're in a world of trouble. Go down fighting is my recommendation.

If you're into outdoor type stuff then i'd suggest hitting up Hidden Valley Springs which is located in Laguna. It's a pretty cool forest you can walk around through with a naturally warm pool.

those are not my pics but they can give you an idea of what they're all about.

oh and also go on WOWOWEE and give a shout out to I-CLUB.

Not sure where I'm staying. I have some baller collector that lives there that's taking care of me for the weekend I'm in Manila. It's the end of my 2 week trip thru China, HK, and the philippines. I already plan on being wasted 90% of the time I'm on this trip and he's started trying to convince me to stay longer. I'm ****in doomed.
