Doesnt break it... can stretch/lengthen the cable a bit and be a bizatch on your tires.

Just find some dirt ... oh and don't lock your steering wheel all the way :-D

This was specifically discussed a few months ago at the rally school. The concensus was that if you're using the e-brake like this correctly, it wont kill the center diff. It only takes a quick jab on the handle to momentarily lock the rear wheels while you're turning to help bring the back around.
Even still, I don't use this technique on a regular basis. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to bring it around!

Yes makes sense. But it still can't be good to go from 50:50 to 100:0 torque instantly.

stock center diff doesn't work quite that fast... if i can have a full 1 second of wheel spin before any power is moved forward, then a split second on the hang brake itsn't gonna kill the center diff.

yeah, I reserve the hand baraking for my Audi, just snaps around too fast on the subie, although I can see situations that might call for it, I tray to stay out of those situations.

If you went to rallycrosses last year, you saw me peel a couple of front tires off the old 4000CSQ, as sideways isn't what they build Big-O Legacy radials for, but at least they are covered by warranty

ya know- there's been a lot of trash talk about drifting and all this kinda poo- we subies have AWD, that's 'sposed to keep us pointed where the road goes, maybe if you wanna drift'n or do 'nutz you might rather have a RWD ride (?)

(yeah, I've been out drinkin'.....)

Exactly

But I wasnt trying to drive or anything... I was just trying for the scoobienuts, you know, like how RS's and WRX's can just spin in circles on loose terrain My car just does not have the power to break traction, and I have a bit too much tire too... RE92's + an RS or WRX = easy scoobynuts

I botched a drift in the rain yesterday
The Re92's couldn't recover grip past the apex, and I nearly plowed into a parked Audi
The wet pavement doesn't seem to be very good for the RE92's heh heh...
