Subway charges for toasting?
Since when? I completely blew up on the clerk and had some great choice words for charging my girlfriend and I money for TOASTING our sandwiches. I never have been charged for toasting ever.

They don't charge you for toasting, but once they heat the food they are required to charge you tax (which they otherwise do not have to do). Same thing with eating in or take-out, no tax if you take it home.
(please correct me if i'm wrong, after looking at your old receipts)

They're operated by franchises... or most are. If that is the case, and things can be charged at one store, but not at another...
WHY NOT MAKE THE DAMN STUFF EXPLICIT TO WHAT YOU'RE CHARGING BEFOREEEEE... not 'til after we got what we want and we look at the bill like "wtf?"

I remember when the whole "$5.00 Footlong" thing started, I went in and bought a TOASTED footlong sandwich for $5.00, total.
A few weeks to a month later, I walked out of there paying $5.46 (ask me how I remember this exactly), for the same toasted sandwich.
The only place where I'm still paying a flat $5.00 total is one of the Subways on the SJSU campus.

Come to think of it again, I have definitely paid different amounts at different Subways for the exact same meal. I asked once but of course the clerk had no idea.

At the Subway near my house in Campbell I always get my sandwich toasted and it depends on which clerk you get when it comes to whether or not you get charged tax.

Back when they had the 2 footlongs for 9.99 deal, I got a chicken bacon ranch and something else. They charged me EXTRA for the bacon and ranch they put in my chicken bacon ranch sandwich. I'm like, WTF and was tempted to just leave without the sandwiches.
Subways are franchises, so the company has very little to no control over what the price practices are at each store.
