strange experience/possible scam artist...
so i just got done talking to my neighbor a little bit ago. someone in a VW came by my house this morning trying to "deliver" a set of wheels. i wasn't home, and he wanted my neighbor to sign for them, telling him they were $700 wheels. my neighbor obviously didn't sign for them since he thought it was pretty sketch.
the weird part is that i ordered some wheels and tires, and they're supposed to be here tuesday-ish. i called the place i ordered them from, and they confirmed that the wheels weren't getting delivered by some random guy in a VW.
so, if anyone shows up in a VW wanting to deliver some wheels ask the guy some tough questions. i just hope that the guy shows up, since i'd really like to know just WTF is going on.

Watch out for the guy on his way to the airport with 4 leather jackets left over from a convention. He needs to get rid of them before he flies back to Italy or he has to pay tax/duties.
I've ran into him twice now. 5 years apart and both times right before the holiday season.

I just received an order via FedEx this past Thursday. I was expecting it that day because their online tracking showed that it was on the way to be delivered that day. When it arrived I was surprised to see the guy pull up in a plain vanilla white van, no FedEx markings, and the guy himself was not wearing a FedEx uniform. I think he might have been a holiday hire driving a vehicle rented or leased by FedEx for the holiday rush.

A bum tried to sell me a paper cup with no bottom in SF before, when I was waiting in a line outside of the Warfield before a Thrice/Thursday concert. What a scam! I gave him some money anyways cause he was a cool guy, heh.

i was sitting in my home office, waiting for the "delivery guy" to show up again, when one of those FedEx vans pulled up. it only had markings on one side, and the driver wasn't in uniform. i'm surprised that they use those, since its hard for people to identify the delivery service.
i'm on a first name basis with my regular UPS driver, and the guy rocks.

Thanks for the heads-up dropkick!
It's funny, the US Postal Service sent a guy out with no uniform in an unmarked Crown Vic to deliver a package to me a few weeks ago... aside from that, though, everything was normal with the package (I was expecting it). Makes you wonder WTH these shipping companies are thinking?

I've had for count 'em1, 2, 3, 4, run ins w/ the italina guys w/ leather jackets. I bought one the last time. He wanted $250 for a
"$1000" jacket. I pulled out my wallet to show $35. After some muttering in italian he threw me the jacket and I threw him the 35 bones. At least one of us walked away happy. He even showed me his plane ticket and rental car contract.
$35 for a buttery, supple leather jacket? I'm down.

so it turns out that my neighbor is on crack. i woke up this morning, to find a delivery notification from Service by Air wedged into my door. apparently they got one of my other neighbors to sign for the delivery, and i grabbed my new wheels out of his garage this morning.
