I don't see why anyone would mind knowing who it is, IF it's true. If it is true, they'll sack him, and find a new Stig. Then we'll have yet another Stig mystery identity. So really it won't matter if you know or not.

I don't see why people feel the need to find out who it is in the first place. The whole reason it's so funny, and fun to have "the Stig" character, is because he's just an anonymous driver to test new cars around a track. I curse the British papers who ousted the identity. It will be interesting though to see if they do indeed sack him this time, or deny the whole thing, and allow him to continue on, or perhaps suit him up in a different color outfit/helmet.
