Not a big fan of either. I'd take current gen of the Evo or STI over those things in appearance alone.

Although I have to admit the new base Lancer looks pretty decent.

why is that so unbelievable? Might be a little low but nothing to laugh at.

isn't the 05 spec'd at 13.2?

This one has more power. If it's lighter and with some suspension changes why not? says estimated...means they don't know. I could easily see it doing a 12.8 or so.

if that's what the STi will look like, I'm afraid I might just have to pick one up next year or the year after. Damn that car looks sick

Not really trying to defend it because I won't buy an STi hatch... But you have to examine this from a financial standpoint. People like choices, yes. But, the U.S. isn't the only market for Subaru. Pretty much, for the rest of the world, it's projected that the WRX/STi is supposed to come only in hatch form (which the rest of the world seems to be enamored with). From a cost/benefit analysis, you're more likely to incur significantly higher expenses (i.e. R&D as well as fixed/variable production costs) by making an STi "sedan" that's only market-specific to the U.S. Subaru will save much more money by developing off of one STi platform (the hatch), and tweaking it for different markets.

Also, you're forgetting that we're in unique positions to be able to have 2+ Subarus to drive. Not everyone has that luxury, and a hatch may make more sense for single-car duty (to some people). I guess we'll just have to see how well the '08 STi sells here, and see if there are any shifts in SoA's strategy.

Kick *** sports car with the functionality of a wagon? Hello! Sign me the **** up. For those of us that can't afford or don't have the room for both an SUV and a sports car, I now understand why the hatch is so popular world wide.

Subaru +1

The Evo is still teh sexor though!

I think that depends on where you're from, here in the NW I see FAAAAAR more impreza wagons than sedans.

But when I lived in Santa Cruz, I saw more sedans...

so yeah, my .02

And if that's what the new STi is gonna look like, Ima get one in a few years when there are used STi's for sale.

Because their going more upscale with interior work and sound deadening these days...not to mention it has 18's.

But isn't the 05 sti right at 3300 pounds??? so it's pretty much the same.

The current model is 3351lbs. 3300lbs is just an educated case so far, no real data has been released.
