Doubt a police vehicle would have that color scheme on the side? I dunno. Never seen it before.

I remember this probably back on '04 when the STi came out. Everyone was saying it was a photochop.

I went to school out there and they do use that color scheme, but they also have cars/suvs that are the same color as from factory with only lights the grills and mounted by the review mirrors. I'm going out there for Labor Day and my friends have been trying to track it down for me so I can see about getting a picture of it.

It's real. When the WRX/STi originally came out they bought one and put the Colorado State Patrol logos/colorscheme on it. I remember back in '01 they had it at the Auto Show in Denver. IIRC, I have a picture of it on my computer at home.

I don't know if the car is legit but that paintjob is how all the state patrol cars look. I know there used to be some racing programs between the cops and citizens at a couple tracks here in Colorado so it's not out of the realm of possibility for the cops to build up that car.

Color scheme is correct, but living there for 22 years, I've never seen/heard of an STI state/hwy patrol car. All I've seen is the crown vic and the camaro. Those camaros come up quickly on your *** on the highway when they're coming for ya.

Different police departments do build cars or take their stock patrol car and go drag them up at bandemere raceway. Thats a whole other situation though...

If I recall correctly, the rest of the story is that yes, it was on official police business, but that it was only done for photo shoots to publicize their street racing crackdown. Then it went to a few car shows and eventually the vinyl was removed and it was returned to civilian service.

Yeah, the WRX was in '01 and the STi was at the '04 show.
