I went to school out there and they do use that color scheme, but they also have cars/suvs that are the same color as from factory with only lights the grills and mounted by the review mirrors. I'm going out there for Labor Day and my friends have been trying to track it down for me so I can see about getting a picture of it.

I don't know if the car is legit but that paintjob is how all the state patrol cars look. I know there used to be some racing programs between the cops and citizens at a couple tracks here in Colorado so it's not out of the realm of possibility for the cops to build up that car.

Color scheme is correct, but living there for 22 years, I've never seen/heard of an STI state/hwy patrol car. All I've seen is the crown vic and the camaro. Those camaros come up quickly on your *** on the highway when they're coming for ya.
Different police departments do build cars or take their stock patrol car and go drag them up at bandemere raceway. Thats a whole other situation though...

If I recall correctly, the rest of the story is that yes, it was on official police business, but that it was only done for photo shoots to publicize their street racing crackdown. Then it went to a few car shows and eventually the vinyl was removed and it was returned to civilian service.
