Hi guys, I just have a question on this thing. OK, I bought a real STI trim the other day and tried to install myself. After I got the center console off and drilled all the hole through the boot and the boot retaining ring (plastic one to hold the boot), I noticed the trim would not sit flush even after I tighted all the bolts and nuts. I mean if I push the plastic ring from the bottom, then the shift trim will push up above the console by haft of an inch or more. It looks like there is a gap and the retaining ring was blocking the trim and I can't even put those little silver push clip back on if I want the shift trim sit flush on the console. My question is do I have to shave the retaining ring into a flat form, so it won't block the trim and I can still push those chip back on to tight the boot. I just don't want to shave it and it still don't work that way! Please help!Any pics of installation would be great!

anyone? you might be misunderstood because my English, but basiclly it's a space between the trim and the plastic retaining ring that won't let the trim sit flush and tight.

If you want to, you can try coming to my house tomorrow. I live in San Jose and I've pulled apart the center console several times and I have tools at my house that we can use to install it if you need.
