First correction to my post...the Rear Diff'l temp sensor will flash, not the DCCD light. but, otherwise, my post stands as entered...

Rear differential oil temperature warning light
  • (WRX-STI)
If this light comes on when the engine is running, it may indicate that the rear differential
oil temperature is too hot. At this time, the driver's control center differential
will automatically cancel the current torque-distribution ratio setting and
adopts its minimum ratio.
If the light comes on while driving, reduce
vehicle speed and stop the vehicle at the nearest safe place.

Park the vehicle for several minutes. After the light goes out, you can start driving.
If the light does not go out, contact the nearest SUBARU dealer for service.
NOTE
If the tire pressures are not correct and/or the tires are not all the same
size and brand, the rear differential will be heavily loaded when the vehicle is
driven, resulting in an abnormally high oil temperature.

The rear differential oil will deteriorate if its temperature increases
enough for the rear differential oil temperature warning light to come on. It is
advisable to have the rear differential oil replaced as soon as possible.

thats crazy some of you have sti's but have never tried the rear diff adjustment. give it a whirl

after the STi and 6spd swap he had all the DCCD wiring still. i don't know if he ever put it in, but i do remember seeing the wiring. looked like a b****.

minimum ratio makes it sound like to me that it will remove torque from the rear diff.

If the rear diff is too hot it essentially goes back into auto mode. This is to remove the torque from the rear diff to allow it to cool down.

Haha... I changed my tires recently and ha a ton of fun with dccd with the bald ones... Soooo much damn fun and so tail happy!!! :-D
