Angry STi banged up!!!

Damn! I had a fender bender in my STi!! I bumped into the back of my wife's SUV. I suck. Looks like I'll need a new hood, front bumper, front grille, and headlight housing.

Anyone know where I can get parts for cheap?

What about a good body shop in Sacramento?

Thanks!!!

Jason

Oh, no! Jason, what happened? Now we'll never see you at the meets... it's the wabbit's wevenge.

Try Bodycraft in Rancho. I think they're in the book. Recommended by our fellow members Scott, Sisqocqk, and sonicsuby (I think).

EDIT: Oh, yeah - sorry to hear about your fender bender and I sure hope no one was hurt. How was your wife's vehicle?

that sucks...same thing happend to me a month ago with my sister and her SUV

you'll be fine soon enough though!

Anyway, Bodycraft in Rancho Cordova did a great job! they did awesome work but it was a tad pricey... be sure to get a few quotes before you goto bodycraft.

They'll lowball you if you say, "this is the first place i've been to" i think every bodyshop would though if you said that like a moron.

Also.. call S-squared and talk to Nate. he has all the Subaru junkyard hook-ups in Sacto. see what he can do for you. Or just goto the recyclers in the rancho area one weekend

Thanks all! I was following my wife to take her Honda for service. She was in front of me at a stop sign. She started to go, and I proceeded to move forward (while looking to my right for traffic)......I didn't notice my wife had stopped again, until I heard the crunch!!!

It must have been like 2-3 mph when I bumped her, but since the damn SUV is taller, it hit a little above the bumper causing all the damage to my car, leaving her car pretty much with just a few scratches and a dented $27.99 plastic piece I actually got a price on it.

Meanwhile, I get 1 estimate from a body shop down the street.....drum roll please......$3,609.08!!!!
Front Bumper -$250
Grille - $200
Hood - $405
Paint - $340
and the killer...Left headlight assembly - $706

Both the HID and highbeams still work but they said they have to replace the entire left headlight assembly. Geez, I thought you could just get like the housing and not the HID pieces.

Pictures follow....

I *think* Scotty is talking about the Bodycraft in Folsom. But I am not sure, the only reason why I say that is because that is were the WRX got fix after the stupid PT Cruiser T-Boned us as it ran a red light on my side too THANK YOU

However, I would not take my word on that ......... OH wait Scotty just answered his phone, he said Rancho or Folsom Bodycarft was good. They are owned by the same people.

Looking at the pics, why do you need a new grille?
Keep the headlight parts as spares, and it's the best time to go to a CF hood if you wanted to.......

You might be able to sell that bumper skin, too. That dent looks like it'll pop out, and then it looks like very, very minimal bodywork would be required to make it look like new, considering that thay have to paint tth new bumper the same was as they'd have to repaint yours.....

Sorry to hear it, man.....

Jason: I had a great experience with Bertoluccis, however, they're probably not the place you want to go if you're paying out of pocket. They're very expensive.

Bodycraft also seems like they do a great Job - Eric and Scotts cars look great. Body craft is located on Trade Center in Rancho.

Basically, exit sunrise and head towards s^2 (south right?), hang a left on Trade Center and body craft is on the right just past the gas station - I think it's a 76.

When you take your car in, if you need rides to work and back (since you work in Rancho and live right out here anyway), let me know and we can carpool till your car is all fixed again (you better not go to work at 4 in the morning! )

Wow, thanks all for the advice. Thanks Matt for the offer, I'll let you know...but I think I need to rent a car anyways since my wife and I can't share a car due to her work.

The pictures didn't show the damage well enough. the bumper is actually torn in a couple of places...not just dented in. And the grille is actually broken...you just can't see it.

About the CF hood, would a body shop put that in if you asked? Also, can you paint a CF hood? I am not a fan of the "two-toned" look. Especially, with a silver car, a really dark hood would be too much for my taste.

Also, how is Bertolucci compared to Bodycraft? Based on Scott's recommendation, I am getting a quote from Bodycraft and may go with them, if I don't have to pay anymore out of pocket. But 21st Century preferrs I goto Bertolucci's.

BTW, I'm not paying out of pocket. Looks like the parts are going to be too expensive for me to shell out. I called my insurance co, and spilled the beans.
