What is the benefit of the Steering Bushings?
The stock bushings that hold the steering rack into the car are too soft (for noise isolation reasons). As a result, the steering rack can move side-to-side a little bit in the bushings.....which is NOT a good thing!

It happens on quite a few rack-n-pinion systems, and is not an issue isolated to the WRX.

Whiteline has some stiffer bushings out that fix the problem. Not a tremendously hard install.......but $60 installed is a pretty dang good deal . Hell, I barely can get the car on/off a lift (or jackstands) in the time that the hourly rate covers the install.

The bushings Gino is referring to are used to mount the steering rack to the frame. There are two of them. Nothing to do with the control arms.
