man that sucks what happened? I've gone through the same thing before in the past. Like I said before and i'll say it again. Penninsula cops (dalycity, sf, burlingame, millbrae, san mateo) they have nothing better to do then give out ref tickets. Share your story if you don't mind I need some good read while i'm at work today. So basically you have vf34 right and a fmic right? When you make ur appointment for state ref I highly recomend alameda and solano county state ref centers. The guy who checks the cars at those places is pretty kick back. I mean your car still needs to pass smog, make sure ur o2 sensors are all in place. Switch out ur downpipe and catback if you have a loud one. Put the stock one back on. The fmic shouldn't be a problem if you have a carb sticker on ur intake. But if ur paranoid (like I was) just put a tmic on it. It doesn't matter if it's an aftermarket tmic because mine was the hyperflow tmic when I went to the ref. umm not sure what other mods you have but if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Oh and once u pass the state ref just go to court and ur fine will end up being like $10 bucks. When my car was sent to the state ref it was parked at a hotel in burlingame. My wife had the car and all she did was turn the car on.

i remember going to the ref, i ripped my car apart. as what Raymond mentioned, go to the alameda ref station. i went to the one in fremont at wyotech since it was the closest one to me but theyre a bunch of asses over there. they didnt want to run the test since my gauges were still hooked up, they werent functioning, just glowing, and they insisted i remove them in order to run the test.

What do the gauges have to do with emissions?

The one I went to was at Skyline College in San Bruno.

the gauges had absolutely nothing to do with emissions, basically telling you to stay away from that ref station. not worth the time or effort. i even told them, theyre not functioning and they had nothing to do with emission but they still insisted.

the ref guy I dealt with was hella cool the cop wrote me up for my turbo timer saying it was a "racing computer" when I told the state ref about my turbo timer and if it was illegal he look at me like uhh what? hahah so I told him what the cop said and started laughing. He told me cops look for anything because it's better to point whatever out out even though they don't understand what it is to be safe on there side.

haha that sucks but just to let you know they have a new guy at wyotech is was pretty laid back also. i went to go get my exhaust check for decible and i hit 97 decibles at 4500rpm and he said just see what it goes up to on 4250 and it hit 96.3 and he said that would be fine as long as it didnt exceed over 96.5

They were cool when I went, but that was a while back. They may have different folks there now.
