Star Trek: The movie: The Thread: By Daniel: Like a boss
Surprised this thread hasn't been erected yet. Have you guys and gals seen it yet?
I wasn't expecting much, but god damn, it was GREAT! I really loved it... Kinda complicated if you don't know star trek at all, but my wife still loved it! The effects were GREAT, story was amazing, acting was really cool and funny. It laid down a lot of foundation... I loved how Harold from Harold and Kumar was Sulu... hahha, just a great flick. Kinda long, but great. The effects were just amazing... Unbelievable. Amazing how far we've come since Terminator 2 special effects. Good lord.
What do you guys think?

is this a spoiler thread? I don't really want to say what pissed me off until SPOILER is posted lol. Lets just say that I feel the same way as Jean Luc Picard does about time travel...

Having said that, I like the use of the Battlestar Galactica inspired Warp/ FTL Jump scenes when a ship comes out of warp.
Good casting overall.

Very thin plot, bad writing.
Good acting, awesome visuals, amazing sound, great action. The plot was paper thin. To many coincidental scenes that were just the resault of poor writing. I'd list them but that would spoil things for others. It's painfully predictable though so it wouldn't be spoiling much.

She's playing Scarlett in G.I. Joe
However, we'll see how well done G.I. Joe is. I have a feeling it is going to be a polarizing Love It or Hate It kind of movie, but we'll see.

I saw it at the Metreon iMax last Thursday.
It was fun like original Treks and didn't take itself too seriously. Lots of action, some cheesy dialog, chicks in short skirts & boots. To cap it off, a guy in a red outfit gets what's coming to him. What more could you want?
