I may end up going to the darkside too.
The Forester's 5-speed is less likely to break than your LGT's is. People are running high 300s on them with fewer problems than the rats who break their WRX 5-speeds at 300 or less.

Well the thing is Ray, you don't know what the previous owners done. Esp since I'd want to track the car.... 5 speed won't cut it with a 18g set up. Now rebuilding and swap is possible but.... with the funds i receive.... highly unlikely. Rather go for something thats already done.
That's too bad considering I have an 18g xt in my garage that was meant for my car... on the stock trans.

The LGT 5 speed is almost identical to the 08+ wrx which for all i know is stronger than 02-07 wrx and 04-08fxts

The FXT's final drive works in it's favor. You're putting less stress/shock on the gears. That's one of the biggest reasons they rarely ever break.

The 09+ wrx gears are stronger...rated up to 350whp supposedly

I was under the impression that 08 wrx had same gears as previous years

If you plan on tracking it, and your new to tracking, you DO NOT want more than 300 hp. Do it right man, I know you can drive. Just get whatever you can, doesnt matter. You can track any year wrx and still have fun, such a high learning curve with AWD too. You can be relatively new and still be fast, more so then rwd or fwd, but you can push your car so much harder. You dont need HP to learn that. If it was me I would wait for the 2014's but unless u get that fire job idk what u can afford. Maybe just get a beater car until u can afford a nice 2014, then u know nobody has ****ed with ur car. You can start fresh!

So what exactly happened? Downhill or uphill? Oversteer then gripped into the wall?
