True, and it leaves a bad impression on some of us newer members. I assumed it to be the norm. It's probably always been around but more subvert.

Then again just posting a banana is a thread or +1 is just dumb (or funny as hell depending on your medication that day).

Okay, maybe I did that once.

No one snitched... the forum was getting waaaay too cluttered, and just filled with crap.

The end.

PS: It's up to Alex to change post count for avatars... maybe he'll just do away with them and only award them to people for doing good deeds, and give me the power (me and other mods) to hand them out.

Yeah nothing like brown nosing and favoritism .. .. You mods would like that?

i think the club would be better without avators. or at least have posts not count in the regional forums...just like the old i-club.

edgar,
ahha, Alex would never do that, I was obviously being sarcastic...

But yeah, Alex is the only one who controls that stuff.

I'm honestly posting this to try to give a helpful perspective...

You know, the avatars thing I figure was a way to get people to post worthwhile content. There will always be postwhoring. And the more good posts, with them will come more postwhoring. Honestly, I think the threads for the most part have been better. There are certain thread which are pure ish, but they seem fewer these days, esp in BAIC.

HOWEVER, there is FAR more good posting in the tech forums and reviews since Alex instituted the 1500/avatar "program".

I say, leave well enough alone. It seems to be working. You gotta take the good w/ the bad... it seems we have normalized to a certain culture. Its not terrible, so let it be. Please don't turn I-Club into yet another NAZIOC. At some point, powers that be need to realize that their creation takes a life of its own, at least to some extent. If the members are not at least allowed to have some say as to the nature of the culture of the forums, they'll go elsewhere, where they feel they can find a place they can call home. (Why do you think you stuck with Alex?)

I like it here... as for new people... Why in the frock does everyone want to come into some place new and cry that its not exactly what they want? When you join a group, you should adopt its culture... not complain until everyone goes your way or ignores you. I don't say that to be mean. Perhaps there are ways we could be more courteous to newcomers, but its rediculous to think the whole culture of I-Club should change for one, joining individual at his or her own request. People join and we welcome them. Some complain and whine and some join in. Let the complainers go to NASIOC where they can have the structure and handholding (and the beloved points system) that they are needing to feel loved. In a freer culture, you need to expect to have a tougher skin when people aren't perfect. Nothing bad about it... but it sure helps us to have and create our own brand of fun, instead having it handed to us by moderators on one end and newcomers on the other.

Dang bert, you're on early.

I don't see the big deal about post whoring, everyone does it. Small talk is post whoring, you could always use email and PM. If people didn't post ***** this board wouldn't be as friendly as it is. It would just be some dictator ran board that noone will enjoy posting on.
