Over $100,000 invested just in the parts...
good lord, he must cry over that line every night in bed. Who the hell drops that much bread into a 78 Pontiac for ANY reason!
EDIT: oh yeah, twin turbo + Supercharged and NO intercooler. wow.

I think thats mainly because Carburetion alone is less efficient than Fuel injection. Has nothing to do with forced induction. Besides, Forced induction (esp. traditional 'corkscrew' type superchargers) actually will increase fuel efficiency on a carbureted engine, because they also act as an air/fuel mixer to help atomize the fuel better and mix it with the air charge before it enters the combustion chamber. Also, with NOS injection, you dont really need an intercooler with the turbos because the NOS will super cool the intake charge as it goes into the supercharger, thus eliminating the need for an intercooler, the NOS acts as the intercooler.

And its not so much the atomization, but carburators are used to seeing negative manifold pressure in front of them, they become very difficult to accurately meter fuel when you put positive pressure in front of them. Thats just always been the case
