^so the dirt goes beyond a dirt lot, like there are actually fire roads they let you drive on?

i'll think about going if thats the case

Ours (at Thunderhill) was in a field so no fire roads and a lot of learning left-foot braking and other techniques... slaloms and a lot of donuts.

Then the rallyx the next day. As a driver, I learned a lot about what it takes to compete.. there was a lot to learn, but it was awesome doing it. This class is the first step down the road to stage rally.

Actually, the dirt techniques for 2wd drive cars were especially interesting.. but I'd say the most valuable was the classroom portion in the morning because we learned how to read the pace notes, equipment, setup, timing... all these things that I've never seen really discussed elsewhere. It also opened the door to competing in road rally because it's the same thing but at lower speeds.
